The death of the Rajaraja is already a mystery and here comes his issue of the cemetery. Where is Rajaraja buried? The answer is also given that after the death, he is buried by his son Rajendra in the place called Udayalur near Kumbakonam. This is proved to be true by the future king Kulothunga Chola as he donated for a temple near Udayalur. Yes, the place is still protected by a farmer family who says they are the family branches of Rajaraja. Many Archeologists went to the place Udayalur for their research upon the chola dynasty but returned with huge doubts.
THE UNNOTICED CEMETRY OF RAJARAJA CHOLAN
The researchers are keen in this process saying that this is the buried place of the king Rajaraja. Where some researchers says it is not the exact place of the cemetery of Rajaraja. While seeking for the proof of this cemetery the village peoples and the farmer family says that it is the exact place where he got buried and they say king Kulothunga also had a visit to Udayalur to see his great grandfather’s cemetery. Yes, it is accepted as the evidence are there for the visit of Kulothunga Chola as it is in the plates of temple nearby that place.
From this evidence they says that this is the cemetery of Rajaraja but some of the researchers translated the writings in the plates where it is having the name Rajaraja but depicting the donation of Kulothunga to that temple on behalf of his Great Grandpa Rajaraja and not depicting the death or cemetery of Rajaraja. This made big issue among the researchers but it is a doubt of researchers and it is still believed to be the cemetery of Rajaraja ass said by the civilians nearby and even some researchers.
